I had a little extra time this morning so I decided to walk down to the New Pioneer Co-op and grab some breakfast.

Last time I was there I saw a few signs advertising that they had breakfast burritos. Since I have an affinity for burritos, and really anything edible, I thought I give one a try on my way to class. I got the veggie burrito and it cost me $4.80 with tax. I was so excited to try it, I had to take a picture.

Yes, this picture got me a lot of weird looks, but I really took the picture for one reason. As a film major, I am still not comfortable taking pictures and shooting video in all situations. I am always worried about getting in someone’s way and am always left wondering what people are thinking of me while I am shooting. So not only is this an incredibly well framed photo, it is also an exercise in self consciousness.
The fall colors were so beautiful that I took some more photos on my way to the journalism building…

When I finally got to the J-School, I picked up a copy of The Daily Iowan and took a moment to reflect with my burrito.

Everything I had eaten from the co-op up until this point had been amazing. The burrito was wrapped in a wheat tortilla and looked promising from the get-go. When I took a bite, all I could see was mushrooms and it was pretty tasteless. It was super messy too. I suspect the mushrooms were canned due to the excessive amount of leakage coming out of the bottom of the wrap.

I probably won’t be getting another burrito from the co-op anytime soon, but this could have been amazing with a bottle of Louisiana or some Tabasco. Then again, what isn’t amazing with hot sauce?

That breakfast looks so good! I have only been to the Bluebird Diner for lunch but it was delicious (I had the smoked chicken salad). I would definitely like to try it out for breakfast sometime!

Bluebird does a good job. I wish they did breakfast all day. The burgers are good too.
