Pizza and Pints at Wig and Pen

We decided to celebrate the end of my semester by going out to for dinner and some drinks.  Originally we planned on going to Cactus, a mexican restaurant that we heard was worth trying out.  On our way there, we mad a last minute decision to go to Wig and Pen instead.  That turned out to be a really good decision.

I had been to Wig and Pen once before to have a few early morning drinks before a basketball game.  It was a while ago and don’t remember anything except that it was packed.  The same could be said when we went there last Tuesday.  I was surprised to see every table in the place filled up.  We put our name down and were told that it was about a 20 minute wait.  Luckily, there happened to be a few seats at the bar.  I got a New Castle and Rachel got her favorite, amaretto and diet.

About five minutes later they had a seat for us and we were on our way.  While we were looking over the menu I mentioned that I really like the atmosphere for a Tuesday night.  The place was packed but it wasn’t hectic or overbearing.

We decided to order one of their pizzas; The Twickenham.  It came with garlic, spinach, artichoke hearts, roma tomatoes, black olives, and feta cheese.  I am usually a little hesitant to order pizza with artichoke hearts because most of the time the pizza turns out wet and gross from the canned artichokes.  I was surprised when the pizza came out to see that it was neither wet or gross.

It was a pretty tasty pizza only made better by my third pint of New Castle.  I don’t think anything about the pizza stuck out to me, but all in all it was satisfying.  The service at Wig and Pen was pretty good too.  About two seconds after I finished one of my New Castles, a fresh pint was sitting in front of me.  Perfect!  The only thing that I really didn’t care for was the plastic lawn chairs that they use for table seating.
